Ruth H. Geshick
Ruth H. Geshick, 74, Alango, formerly of Nett Lake, passed away at the Virginia Convalescent Center on Friday, October 9, 2009.
She was born on July 8, 1935, at Nett Lake, where she grew up. She had resided at Duluth, Ely, Vermilion Reservation-Tower, and East Grand Forks and for the past 30 years in Alango. She worked in the fall harvesting of vegetables, loved the outdoors and the woods. She enjoyed growing flower gardens, liked bird watching, harvesting wild rice, getting firewood, and going to Pow-Wows. She was a longtime dedicated homemaker, and a member of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa.
Ruth is survived by her companion of 45 years, Joe Bohlin; 1 son, Francis Chosa of Virginia; 5 daughters, Vincette Maurus, Karen Fineday, Aura Chosa, Bernice Smith and Naomi Geshick; and special grandchildren: Candice Johnson, Vanessa Johnson, James Johnson, Tracie Chosa and Athena Chosa; the special great grandchildren¨Daysja Deegan and Alaina Hussman.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by Vincent “Buckshot” Chosa; a son, David Bohlin; a brother, Frank Geshick; and a sister Cecelia Geshick.
SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, (Oct. 13th) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cook. Fr. Joseph Thomas MCBS was the celebrant. Music was provided St. Mary’s Choir and Marjorie Miller. The casket bearers were: Joe Bohlin, Raymond Geshick Sr., Raymond Geshick Jr., Jeff Geshick, James Johnson Jr., and Dustin Mansau. The honorary bearers were: Francis Chosa and Joe Geshick. Interment was in the Alango Township Cemetery.
