WELY

In August 2005, the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa completed the purchase of WELY Radio Station in Ely, Minnesota from Boundary Waters Broadcasters, Inc., owned by Janice Erickson of Ely.

Located on the radio dial at 94.5 FM and 1450 AM, WELY is a 14,500 watt station that broadcasts twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. The listening signal can be heard within a fifty mile ring around Ely and also around the world via streamed audio over the internet. The station’s format offers an eclectic mix of music, local programming and some national syndicated feeds such as ABC News and Paul Harvey.
