BOIS FORTE YOUTH LEADERS INVITED TO

PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION

NETT LAKE, Minn. – When millions of Americans gather around their televisions to watch the historic inauguration of Barack Obama as our nation’s 44th President, two Bois Forte youth leaders will be among the privileged few to attend the event in person.

Felicia Mason, 12, and Corey Strong Jr., 13, have been accepted into the prestigious Junior Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference to be held in Washington, D.C., January 17-21, 2009. They and a select group of middle school students from across the country will gain unique insights into democracy, the electoral process, and the rich traditions surrounding the Presidential inauguration.

As special guests on the National Mall, Mason and Strong will bear witness as the new President is sworn into office, then experience the jubilation of the inaugural parade as the President, Vice President, and their families make their way from the U.S. Capitol down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.

Later that evening, Mason and Strong will attend a gala inaugural ball along with other VIPs. Conference participants will also have opportunities to interact with leading political experts and hear from prominent keynote speakers such as former Secretary of State General Colin Powell and former Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore.

In addition, Mason, Strong and their fellow youth leaders will be able to explore the many historic sites and monuments during their stay in the nation’s capital.

Felicia, the daughter of Tony and Billie Mason and Corey, the son of Corey and Teresa Strong are graduates of the Nett Lake School and current 7th graders at Orr High School.

“This is an incredible chance for the next generation of leaders to see our country at its best,” said Band Chairman Kevin Leecy. “Bois Forte congratulates Felicia, Corey and all the young people who have been inspired to participate in it.”
